One more non-Christmas album from the Old Lady CDs. “Music for Your Dog - You’ll Love It Too!!” exclaims the back of the record. With songs like “Missing Tutu”, “Tale of Two Tails”, and “Tappy Boy #12”, who wouldn’t be interested to hear what riveting, boundary-pushing compositions lie in wait here?
The first song is a sopping, dumbed-down performance of Pachelbel’s Canon, without any of the interesting counterpoint work from the original - but it does has a string pad with reverb! And that’s the best song on the album. Given the flubs on some of the tracks, I wouldn’t be surprised if everything was done live to digital tape. Oh, and my CD player started to spin the disc frantically searching for the music around track 6, so I only got to hear the first half of the record before I had to take out the disk to spare my player.
As for whether or not my dog likes it?
Piano Music For Your Dog is a bad album, and Oliver and I don’t like it.
