The first thing that strikes me about this record is just how plain lazy this disc is. No booklet. Same stock image of the same flower on everything. No credits, just “London Symphony Orchestra and others”. The record label is better known for releasing public-domain films like “First Spaceship On Venus”.
Whoever’s playing the piano is doing a pretty good job of interpreting Chopin’s draping, rippling style of romantic piano. The rain sounds (the label's only contribution to this record) are just all right, I suppose. They add a flickering of white noise to the background of the otherwise solo piano performances. It loops. The gaps between songs ruin the illusion. This CD should not exist, but given that it does, I’m not repulsed by it, just a little disappointed.
Chopin in the Rain is a bad album, and I don’t like it.
